3M Graphics Market Presents: Extreme Wrap Challenge
Rules and Regulations
There are two components to this Contest, a Qualifying Round and an Extreme Wrap Challenge (each as detailed below)(collectively, the "Contest"). The Contest is intended to be conducted in Canada only, and shall be construed and evaluated according to applicable Canadian Law. No purchase necessary. By entering this Contest, you (the "Entrant") agree to be bound by these Contest rules and regulations.
1. Who can Enter: This Contest is open to Canadian graphic fabricators and sign shops ("Fabricators") and Fabricator's in-house installers and their Canadian third party installers (collectively, the "Installers") as further detailed below. Fabricators and Installers shall be individually and collectively referred to as "Entrant". Not eligible to participate in this contest are employees, representatives, and agents of 3M Canada Company ("3M"). Also ineligible are members of the immediate family of, and persons who reside with such employees, representatives and agents.
Those Installers selected as Contestants (as defined below) for the Extreme Wrap Challenge component of the Contest (the "Extreme Wrap Challenge") must be able to travel to Toronto, Ontario, between Tuesday September 22, 2015, through to and including Thursday September 24, 2015. If an Installer is selected as a Contestant for the Extreme Wrap Challenge competition and cannot travel during this time, he or she will be disqualified and an alternate Contestant may be selected in 3M's sole discretion.
2. How to Enter:
Fabricators may enter between April 22, 2015 and July 31, 2015 ("Entry Period") by completing in full the entry form at www.3M.ca/ExtremeWraps and where directed on the form:
- uploading at least one image of a project they have completed using 3M™ Graphic Films.
- inserting a description of why the project would be considered "extreme" (no more than 2,000 characters).
- indicating the name and contact details of the Installer who will participate in the Extreme Wrap Challenge portion of this Contest. In the event the Installer is not part of your team (i.e. a third party Canadian Installer), there will be an invitation email link which you can click to invite them to enter the Extreme Wrap Challenge portion of the Contest. Once the third party Installer you have selected has completed their portion of the entry form, the Fabricator's entry will be complete.
Each such entry ("Entry") shall consist of an Entry for the Fabricator into the Qualifying Round and Random Draw portions of the Contest (as detailed in Section 3 below) and an Entry for the listed Installer into the Qualifying Round and Extreme Wrap Challenge components of the Contest. Should an Entry win the Qualifying Round, the listed Installer will be eligible to become a Contestant in the Extreme Wrap Challenge. Before officially becoming a Contestant, each eligible Installer will be required to complete and return a Declaration and Release form. Fabricators may submit multiple Contest entries. Limit of one (1) Qualifying Round prize per Fabricator and Installer.
All Entries are subject to verification and approval by 3M. Entries that do not meet the requirements for the photo, description and Installer listing specified herein or otherwise do not comply with the Official Rules may be disqualified. Any attempted form of entry other than as described herein is void. 3M will determine in its sole discretion, what constitutes a valid entry. All materials submitted become the property of 3M and will not be returned or acknowledged.
Additional requirements of Entry: To be eligible for the Contest and a prize, an Entry must meet, and each Entrant hereby warrants by the submission of his/her Entry the truthfulness and accuracy of, the following additional requirements:
- The photograph and description included in the Entry is original.
- The Fabricator must have permission to use the name and likeness of any additional person that appears in the photograph.
- Installer must have consented to entry into the Extreme Wrap Challenge component of this Contest.
- 3M Brand logos in the photograph are permitted, but are not a condition of entry. If a third-party logo is present, the Entrant must have arranged for permission for 3M to use the imagery or consents to 3M modifying the image to remove the third party logo.
- The Entry will not depict any person, place, thing, 3M or its products and services unfavourably, and will be suitable for all ages and for replication/display, as specified in these Contest rules or on the Website; photographs that contain vulgarity, inappropriate language, or weapons will be disqualified.
- Each Installer selected as a Contestant agrees to participate in scheduled public relations/media activities, including but not limited to: on-site, in-studio, telephone and email media interviews, and media appearances prior to, during and after the selection of the First, Second and Third Place Prize winners, if requested to do so by 3M.
- Each extreme wrap project submitted by Entrant, must have used 3M graphic films.
- is original to him/her/the Fabricator and that the Entrant has all necessary rights in and to the images and text being included in the Entry;
- does not and will not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation;
- will not give rise to any claims of infringement, invasion of privacy or publicity, or infringe on any rights and/or interests of any third party, or give rise to any claims for payment whatsoever; and
- is not and will not be defamatory, trade libelous, pornographic or obscene, and further that it will not discuss or involve, without limitation, any of the following:
- Explicit, graphic or excessive sexual activity;
- Crude, vulgar or offensive language;
- Derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual or religious groups;
- Content which endorses, condones or discusses any illegal or inappropriate activity, behaviour or conduct;
- Personal information of individuals, including without limitation, names, addresses (physical or e-mail), phone and fax numbers;
- Conduct or other activities in violation of these Rules;
- Any other content that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, as determined by 3M in its sole discretion.
All required fields of the Entry must be completed in order to enter. By submitting an Entry, each Entrant agrees and consents to abide by all rules and regulations of this Contest and further represents and warrants that the Entry:
In addition, by participating in the Contest, each Entrant grants to 3M, in perpetuity, a non-exclusive license to publish, display, reproduce, modify, edit or otherwise use the Entry in whole or in part for any reason whatsoever. Further, by submitting your Entry, you agree 3M has the right, but not the obligation, to post your Entry on the 3M Canada Graphics Facebook page, LinkedIn, www.3M.ca/ExtremeWraps, and www.3MGraphics.ca. 3M reserves the right to disqualify from the Contest any Entry that that it deems, in its sole and absolute discretion, to violate the terms and conditions set forth in these Contest rules. 3M also reserves the right to modify or edit, in its sole and absolute discretion, any Entry entered in the Contest, or to request an Entrant to modify or edit his or her Entry in order to comply with these Contest rules or for any other reason. Any Entry not complying with these Contest rules may be disqualified. No purchase necessary. 3M reserves the right to contact Entrants to verify all steps in the Entry are complete.
3. Winner Selection:
There will be three random draws held, one on each of June 1, 2015, July 6, 2015, and August 4, 2015 from all eligible Entries from Fabricators received up to these dates for a $100 Visa Gift Card. Limit of one (1) prize per Entry.
Qualifying Round : A panel of four judges consisting of two 3M representatives, an industry professional, and a design professional (the "Judges"), will judge each eligible Entry on the basis of the following weighted criteria to determine the three (3) eligible Entries of the Qualifying Round prizes as detailed below, on August 11, 2015.
Overall Appeal/Image Consistency
Extreme-ness of project; how the project was uniquely difficult in technique, equipment, situation, distance, curves, precision, creativity
The three Fabricators and three Installers selected as eligible winners will be notified via phone and/or email on or around August 12, 2015. Before being declared a winner, selected Entrants will be required to answer a skill testing mathematical question and sign and return to 3M a declaration and release within five (5) days from receipt. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and the possible selection of an alternate winner. The three (3) Installers who are selected as potential winners of the Qualifying Round will be required to sign and return to 3M an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability and Publicity within five (5) days from receipt and confirm their ability to participate in the Finals in Toronto, Ontario between Tuesday September 22, 2015, through to and including Thursday September 24, 2015 before being declared a Contestant. If an Installer is selected as a potential Contestant for the Extreme Wrap Challenge competition and cannot travel during this time, he or she will be disqualified and an alternate Contestant may be selected by 3M in its sole discretion.
The three (3) Fabricator winners and three (3) Installer winners of the Qualifying Round will be announced no later than Monday, August 31, 2015 on 3M.ca/ExtremeWraps and on the 3M Canada Graphics Facebook page.
The three (3) Fabricators who are officially declared winners of the Qualifying Round component of the Contest will each receive a custom framed picture of their winning project for the Fabricator to display and a $500 Branded Prepaid Card to use to celebrate their win (Total ARV $850).
The three (3) Installers who are officially declared winners of the Qualifying Round component of the Contest will be named as Contestants in the Extreme Wrap Challenge and will receive the travel, accommodations and prizing as set out in Section 4 below.
Extreme Wrap Challenge: The Extreme Wrap Challenge will occur in Toronto on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 and will consist of three timed rounds, with Contestants in each round individually wrapping identical item(s), in identical situations. Contestants in each round will be judged on their ability to complete each challenge, including choosing the correct tools for each round of the challenge, their wrap technique, their wrap accuracy and overall visual appeal of their finished work. In the event of a tie, speed will serve as the tie-breaker. The Contestants will be using 3M™ Envision™ Print Wrap Films in the Extreme Wrap Challenge, which will be provided at each round.
Decisions of the Judges, are final in all matters related to the Contest and are not subject to review or appeal. Selection of the First, Second and Third Place Prize Winners of the Extreme Wrap Challenge will be announced at the end of the competition as well as announced via a press release after the selection. All federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations apply. Without limiting anything set out in these Contest rules, acceptance of prizes constitutes permission to use each Contestant's name, image/ likeness, photograph, voice and/or biographical material in advertising and promotional activities without notice, compensation or other consideration (except where prohibited by law).
4. Extreme Wrap Challenge Prizes:
One (1) First Place Prize : Eco Experience - A Seven (7)-night all-inclusive stay for two at the four star Barceló Tambor Beach Resort in Costa Rica. The trip includes roundtrip economy air for two from the nearest International airport closest to the winner’s residence to Liberia, Costa Rica, air or ground transportation between Liberia and hotel, standard 7-night double occupancy hotel accommodation at four star Barceló Tambor Beach Resort and meals and refreshments at the resort. Spending money , airport taxes, hotel mini bar items, meals, additional checked luggage fees, gratuities, merchandise, telephone, fax or internet charges, other hotel incidentals such as valet, laundry, room service, gratuities and any other expenses not stated as being included in the Grand Prize are not included and will be the full responsibility of the Winner and his/her guest. All travel dates, accommodation on board the plane and hotel accommodation are subject to space availability and subject to change without notice or compensation. Grand Prize winner and guest must both be available to travel on the dates required, at the same time, or the Grand Prize will be forfeited. The airline and hotel used for travel will be determined by 3M based on the date/time of trip and airline/hotel availability. The prize cannot be taken during this period: December 17, 2015 and January 7, 2016 inclusively. The winner will have until September 22, 2016, to complete the trip. It is the winner’s and guest’s responsibility to obtain all necessary travel documentation including valid passports and visas, if applicable, prior to ticketing and to comply with any customs and/or immigration requirements. 3M is not responsible if Winner and/or guest is denied access to the aircraft or entry/re-entry into destination province. In such an event, Winner and/or guest will be solely responsible for any expenses incurred and the Grand Prize may be forfeited, in whole or in part. It is recommended that the Winner and his/her guest both obtain sufficient personal insurance prior to departure. Winner and guest must both comply with all hotel check-in requirements including, without limitation, the presentation of a major credit card. If the Winner and/or guest does not utilize any part(s) of the Grand Prize, then any such part(s) not utilized will be forfeited in their entirety and nothing will be substituted in their place. All travel and hotel arrangements relating to the Grand Prize must be made through 3M or its designated agents. The Grand Prize may not be used toward any type of frequent-flyer mileage or other reward point accumulation program. If the Winner and/or guest elects to upgrade his or her travel package, extend the length of his/her trip or stop along the way, this will be at the Winner’s and/or guest’s own expense. Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $5,000 plus applicable taxes based on Toronto departure. As a condition of participation in this prize, each Contestant’s guest will be required to complete and return to 3M a liability/publicity release prior to their participation.
One (1) Second Place Prize : an Extreme Experience - Prize includes: one day trial course program at Jim Russell Racing School for one (1) person, roundtrip economy air from the International airport nearest to Winner's residence or ground transportation (depending on distance to Montreal) for two to Montreal, limousine transportation from Montreal to Mont-Tremblant, standard two-night double occupancy hotel accommodation at Fairmont Tremblant hotel in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, the Fairmont Breakfast and Dinner Package for two people, two days, and $200 CAD spending money to cover additional meals or other expenses. Prize is to be taken on the following weekdays: Friday to Sunday. The winner will have until October 31, 2016, to complete the trip, within the racing season which typically operates from May to October. It is recommended that the winner reserves his/her prize as soon as the 2016 schedules are received, which is usually after January. 3M will contact the winner once this information is known. Drivers must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the School.
- 18 years of age or older
- Must know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle
- Max height allowance (6'3") proportionate to max weight (230lbs). (i.e. driver stature of 5'2" / 200 lbs would not fit).
- No medical or physical condition preventing the driver from operating a race car at speed. (i.e heart condition, history of seizures etc.)
- Total approximate retail value is $4,000 CAD (depending on Winner's place of residence)

One (1) Third Place Prize: Entertainment Experience - Consisting of a drone and speaker system (ARV $2000 CAD). Includes one quadcopter drone for aerial photography and one Bluetooth® portable speaker. Total ARV (approximate retail value): $930* CAD
All Contestants in the Extreme Wrap Challenge will also receive a high-definition Action-Capturing Waterproof HD Helmet and Sports Video Camera (total approximate retail value $550 CAD.
In addition to the above, each of the three (3) Contestants will receive an honorarium toward a round trip transportation and accommodations for themselves to Toronto on or around Wednesday, September 23, 2015, to participate in the Extreme Wrap Challenge competition. 3M will determine the amount given to each Contestant dependant on their cost of travel. Each Contestant is solely responsible for all expenses, costs and fees associated with attendance at the Extreme Wrap Challenge competition and/or acceptance of a prize not specified herein as being provided, including, without limitation, any travel insurance and/or medical coverage, all gratuities and personal purchases/souvenirs. Each Contestant shall cooperate with 3M with respect to any applicable federal, provincial or local tax reporting requirements related to the prizes or other consideration received by the contestant. Each Contestant is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable federal, provincial and local taxes as well as any additional fees associated with prizes.
Approximate retail value ("ARV") of each Contestant prize package (including the travel and meal expenses set out above) is between $7,000 and $3,000, depending on whether a Contestant is the first, second or third place winner and the home address of the Contestant and associated costs of travel to Toronto. Any difference between stated value and actual value will not be awarded.
3M reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize or prizes of equal or greater value for any and all prizes. No other substitutions, cash equivalents or transfer of prizes allowed unless specifically authorized by 3M. All properly claimed prizes will be awarded. In the event an awarded prize has been lost, 3M is not responsible for a replacement.
Should a Contestant be unable to attend the Extreme Wrap Challenge competition for any reason, including the occurrence of any event described below, 3M will not be held responsible and will not award or compensate such Contestant for lost time, wages, fees, travel expenses or costs of any kind spent in preparation for such Contestant's travel to, or arrival in, Toronto, and/or the value of any prizes that may have been awarded.
In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any promotion materials and the terms and conditions of these Contest rules, these Contest rules shall prevail, govern and control.
5. General Conditions.
No correspondence in regard to this contest will be entered into except with selected Entrants. All Entries become the property of 3M and none will be returned. By entering this contest all Entrants agree to the use and publication of their names, photographs and addresses in any advertising or publicity by 3M Canada Company or its advertising agencies, without compensation either during or after the contest.
Entrants assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in the Contest or the acceptance or use/misuse of any prize and release 3M and their respective parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees or agencies from any and all liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind in connection therewith.
Without limitation, 3M its advertising and promotion agencies, Jazz Marketing Communications, Facebook, LinkedIn and the Contest Judges will not be liable for any failure of the Entry Page during the Contest; for any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; for the failure of any entry to be received by 3M, its advertising and promotion agencies or the contest judges for any reason including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website; or any combination of the above. Further, 3M, its advertising and promotion agencies and the Contest Judges will not be liable for any injury or damage to an Entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading any material in the Contest.
3M reserves the right at any time without notice to withdraw or amend this Contest in any way, for any reason, including without limitation, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of 3M that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, 3M reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. 3M reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest in the event of any accident, administrative, or other error or any kind without prior notice or obligation.
This contest is subject to all Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws and regulations.
For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a promotional contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be be submitted to the Régie des alcohols, des courses et des jeux only for the purposes of helping the parties reach a settlement.
Privacy: 3M Canada Company is legally required to ensure that all personal information disclosed to or received from third parties is appropriately used, disclosed and protected. Personal information is defined as any piece of information, about an identifiable individual but does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization, which is the information used for this contest. 3M will use any personal information only for purposes of administering the contest unless entrant opts-in otherwise. No disclosure of personal information to third parties is needed under this contest. No disclosure of personal information to third parties is needed under this Contest and the information you provide will not be passed to Jazz Marketing Communications. Entries will be retained for a reasonable period of time following delivery of prizes under the contest rules.
