3M Uncover the Secret CONSUMER CONTEST OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
- The Uncover the Secret contest (“Contest”) begins on May 1, 2018 at 12:00 a.m. ET, and ends on October 31, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. ET or once all PIN codes
(defined below) have been submitted, whichever occurs first (the “Contest Period”). A total of 300,000 unique PIN codes (each, a “PIN Code”) will be available for distribution at the
start of the Contest. The number of PIN Codes available for distribution will decrease as they are distributed in accordance with these Official Contest Rules (the “Rules”). By participating in this
Contest, you are signifying your agreement that you have read and agree to be legally bound by these Rules.
- To enter and to be eligible to win, entrant must be a legal resident of Canada and must have reached the legal age of majority in the province or territory in which he/she resides. Despite the foregoing, employees, 3M Electrical
Distributors, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are living, whether related or not) of 3M Canada Company (the “Contest Sponsor”), its parent organization, subsidiaries, affiliates, prize suppliers,
advertising/promotion agencies and any other entity involved in the development, production, administration, or fulfilment of the Contest (collectively, the “Contest Parties”) are ineligible to enter or win.
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. There are two (2) ways to obtain a PIN Code, as follows:
- Eligible Purchase: If you visit a participating retailer and purchase a specially-marked package of Scotch® Super 33+™ Vinyl Electrical Tape, Scotch® Super 88 Vinyl Electrical Tape, Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Tape 35 (Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, or White), or 3M Performance Plus™ Wire Connector Pouches or Jugs, (while
supplies last) (each, an “Eligible Product”) between May 1, 2018 at 12:00 a.m. ET and October 31, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Purchase Period”) (collectively, an “Eligible
Purchase”), you will receive one (1) PIN Code, while supplies last
- OR
- No Purchase Request: To receive a PIN Code (while supplies last) without having to make an Eligible Purchase send an email to uncoverthesecret@mmm.com during the Purchase
Period that includes your first name, last name, telephone number, complete mailing address, email address and a 50 word or more unique and original essay on the advantages of using high-quality electrical products
(collectively, a “No Purchase Request”). If your No Purchase Request is submitted and received in accordance with these Rules (as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion), one (1) PIN
Code will be mailed to you through Canada Post (while supplies last, 40 NO Purchase PIN Codes available). The Released Parties (as defined below) take no responsibility for any lost, stolen, delayed, illegible, damaged,
misdirected, late or destroyed No Purchase Requests.
Once you have obtained a PIN Code, visit www.3M.ca/UncoverTheSecret (the “Website”) and follow the on-screen instructions to submit your PIN Code (and any other required information) during the Contest Period (collectively, a “PIN submission”). In order
to be eligible, your PIN Submission must be submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please retain your original PIN Code(s), as applicable, as they may be required to be presented to the Contest Sponsor as part of verification procedure outlined below.
- No limit. Enter often: There is no limit to the number of PIN Code submissions per entrant. However, a PIN Code can only be entered into the Contest once. If it is discovered by the Contest Sponsor (using any
evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Contest Sponsor) that any person has attempted to: (i) use multiple names, identities, email addresses and/or any automated, macro, script, robotic
or other system(s) or program(s) to enter or otherwise participate in or to disrupt this Contest; (ii) falsely enter a PIN Code without obtaining a PIN Code in accordance with these Rules; (iii) re-enter a PIN Code a subsequent
time after its first use; and/or (iv) enter a PIN Code that has been falsified, manipulated or otherwise altered in any way (all as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); then he/she may be
disqualified from the Contest in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor. The Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, delayed, incomplete, illegible or incompatible
PIN Submissions (all of which are void). Your PIN Submission may be rejected if (in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor) it is not fully completed with all required information and submitted and received
in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period. All Eligible Purchases, No Purchase Requests, PIN Code and any other information in any way connected with this Contest (collectively, “Contest-Related Information”)
and entrants are subject to verification at any time and for any reason. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to
the Contest Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification): (i) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in this Contest; (ii) for the purposes of verifying
the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Contest-Related Information entered (or purportedly entered) for the purposes of this Contest; and/or (iii) for any other reason the Contest Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole and
absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering this Contest in accordance with these Rules. Failure to provide such proof to the complete satisfaction of the Contest Sponsor within the timeline specified by the Contest
Sponsor may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).
- Instant Win Prizes: The following Six Thousand (6,000) “instant win” prizes are available to be won throughout the Contest:
- 50 – 3M™ Electrical Products Gift Packs (ARV $100)
- 100 – 3M™ Electrical Products Gift Packs (ARV $50)
- 200 – 3M™ Electrical Products Gift Packs (ARV $25)
- 250 – 3M Branded T-shirts (ARV $15)
- 1600 – Rolls of Scotch® Super88 Tape (ARV $10)
- 1800 – Rolls of Scotch® Super 33+™ Tape (ARV $8)
- 2000 – Bags of 3M Performance Plus™ Wire Connectors (ARV $10)
The number of Instant Win Prizes available to be won will decrease throughout the Contest as they are claimed in accordance with these Rules.
One (1) Grand Prize: The following “grand” prize is available to eligible entries received during the Contest Period:
- One (1) prize consisting of a $10,000 CAD 3M Visa® Prepaid Card
The total ARV of all prizes is $79,150 CAD.

The Prizes must be accepted as awarded. The Prizes may not be sold, transferred and where applicable, are not convertible to cash. Contest Sponsor reserves the right to substitute each Prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component
of the Prize is unavailable. All characteristics and features of each Prize, except as otherwise explicitly stated above, are at the Contest Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion. Each Prize winner is solely responsible for
all costs not expressly described herein. There is no limit on the number of Instant Win Prizes awarded per entrant. A PIN Code from an Instant Win Prize remains eligible to win the Grand prize.
- On November 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. ET, a random draw for the Grand Prize will take place in London, Ontario from among all eligible and applicable PIN Submissions received during the Contest Period. The odds of winning the Grand
Prize will depend on the total number of eligible PIN Submissions received during the Contest Period.
- Each Instant Win Prize will be assigned a randomly computer-generated PIN Code before the Contest Period. If an eligible entrant makes a PIN Submission with that corresponding PIN Code, the entrant will become eligible to win that
corresponding Instant Win Prize. Limit of one (1) Instant Win Prize per PIN Code. Each potential Instant Win Prize winner will be notified of the potential win via a scratch section on the back of the product label for the
tape products, or on the back of the contest sticker for the wire connector products, that states “Instant Win Prize Winner” and confirmed on-screen after he/she has performed the PIN Submission. Odds of winning an Instant
Win Prize are approximately 1 in 50.
- Potential Instant Win Prize winners will be notified of the potential win of that Instant Win Prize via a pop-up message that appears on screen after he/she completes their PIN Submission. In order to be declared a winner, each
potential winner must first correctly answer, unaided, a mathematical skill testing question administered by the Contest Sponsor within the pop-up message on screen (or as otherwise determined by the Contest Sponsor in its
sole and absolute discretion). In the event that the potential winner does not answer the skill testing question correctly, he or she will be disqualified. Proof of identification must be provided upon request. Before being
awarded an Instant Win Prize, each potential winner will also be required to digitally sign and submit, a full declaration and release form stating that, among other things, he/she has read and understood these Rules, grants
all consents required, authorizes the Contest Sponsor to broadcast, publish, disseminate and otherwise use his/her name, city/town/village and province/territory of residence, photograph, voice and any other likeness, in connection
with any promotion and/or publicity, and/or for general news, entertainment and/or information purposes at no additional compensation to the potential winner, beyond the awarding of or participation in the Prize, accepts the
Prize as awarded and releases the Contest Parties and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability
in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the Prize or any portion thereof. If a potential Prize winner: (a) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; (b)
fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; (c) cannot accept (or is unwilling to accept) the Prize (as awarded) for any reason; and/or (d) is determined to be in violation of these Rules
(all as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); then he/she may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor, be disqualified (and, if disqualified, will forfeit all rights to
the Prize). Please allow up to 8 weeks for the Instant Win Prizes to be shipped.
- The Contest Sponsor, acting reasonably, will attempt to contact the potential Grand Prize winner to notify him/her that he or she may have won the Grand Prize by email and/or phone (as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole
and absolute discretion) within two (2) business days of the Grand Prize draw. Proof of identification must be provided upon request. In order to be declared a winner, the potential winner must first correctly answer, unaided,
a time limited mathematical skill testing question administered by the Contest Sponsor (which may, at the Contest Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, be administered via the full declaration and release form described in
the following sentence). Before being awarded the Prize, the potential winner, will be required to sign and return within the time stipulated by the Contest Sponsor, a full declaration and release form stating that, among other
things, he/she has read and understood these Rules, grants all consents required, authorizes the Contest Sponsor to broadcast, publish, disseminate and otherwise use his/her name, city/town/village and province/territory of
residence, photograph, voice and any other likeness, in connection with any promotion and/or publicity, and/or for general news, entertainment and/or information purposes at no additional compensation to the potential winner,
beyond the awarding of or participation in the Prize, accepts the Prize as awarded and releases the Contest Parties and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns
(collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the Prize or any portion thereof. If the potential Prize
winner: (a) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; (b) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; (c) cannot accept (or is unwilling to accept) the Prize (as awarded)
for any reason; and/or (d) is determined to be in violation of these Rules (all as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); then he/she may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest
Sponsor, be disqualified (and, if disqualified, will forfeit all rights to the Prize).
- All decisions of the Contest Sponsor with respect to any aspect of this Contest, including without limitation the eligibility entrants or any Contest-Related Information, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as
they relate to this Contest. ANYONE DEEMED BY THE CONTEST SPONSOR TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE CONTEST SPONSOR AT ANY TIME.
- All Contest-Related Information becomes the property of the Contest Sponsor. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial/territorial and municipal laws. The Released Parties will not be liable for: (i) any failure
of the Website during the Contest; (ii) any technical malfunction or other problems of any nature whatsoever, including, without limitation, those relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers,
access providers, computer equipment or software; (iii) the failure of any Contest-Related Information to be received, captured or recorded for any reason whatsoever, including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic
congestion on the internet or at any website; (iv) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or other device related to or resulting from participating in the Contest; and/or (v) any combination of
the above. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted a PIN Submission, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require the individual(s) claiming to have submitted a PIN Submission
to provide proof (in a form acceptable to the Contest Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification) that he/she is the individual who obtained the applicable PIN Code in accordance with these
Rules (failing which such individual may be disqualified, as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion). The Contest Sponsor reserves the right subject only to the approval of the Régie des alcools,
des courses et des jeux (the “Régie”) in Quebec, to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Contest Sponsor that interferes
with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules, including, without limitation, any error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failure. Any
attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws
and should such an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Contest Sponsor, subject only to the approval of the Régie, reserves the right
to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, in any way without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason whatsoever.
Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or
to comply with applicable law. The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie, to adjust any of the dates, timeframes and/or other Contest mechanics stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary,
for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant or Entry with these Rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Contest Sponsor, in its sole
and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason. If due to printing, production, online, internet, computer or other error of any kind, more PIN
Codes are printed than intended to be distributed according to these Rules, then, in addition to having the right to terminate the Contest immediately, subject only to the approval of the Régie in Quebec, the Contest Sponsor
reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion (subject only to the approval of the Régie in Quebec), to invalidate all PIN Codes printed in excess of the number of PIN Codes intended to be distributed according to
these Rules and a PIN Code holders only remedy in this regard will be to receive a replacement PIN Code, while supplies last. If due to printing, production, online, internet, computer or other error of any kind, a PIN Code
is unusable for the purposes of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules, the applicable participant’s only remedy in this regard will be to receive another PIN Code, while supplies last. If due to printing, production,
online, internet, computer or other error of any kind, more Prizes are claimed than intended to be awarded according to these Rules, or in the event that due to such error, a valid Prize claim is revealed, making the number
of valid Prize claims greater than the number of Prizes available under these Rules, a random draw will be held after the Contest closes from amongst all eligible Prize claimants to award the remaining number Prizes (as determined
by the Contest Sponsor at its sole and absolute discretion on the basis of its official records). In no event will the Sponsor be liable for more than the stated number of Prizes in these Rules.For Quebec residents: Any litigation
respecting the conduct or organization of this Contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Quebec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board
only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
- By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Contest Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted in the course of participating in this Contest for
the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Contest Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at: http://solutions.3mcanada.ca/wps/portal/3M/en_CA/WW2/Country/Corp/Privacy/).
This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the Contest Sponsor or others in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of his/her personal information.
- In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest related materials, including but not limited to the Website, or point
of sale, television, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of the Rules shall prevail, govern and control. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English and French version of these Rules,
the English version shall prevail, govern and control.
- All intellectual property, including but not limited to trade-marks, trade-names, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by the Contest Sponsor
and/or its affiliates. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
- Prepaid cards are issued in connection with a loyalty, award or promotion program. Prepaid card is issued by Peoples pursuant to a license by Visa Int ® Trademark of Visa Int., used under license. No cash access or recurring payments.
